IBV has analysed the content of the Technical Guide (Safety in tramway driver's cab) and has developed a CAD virtual analysis tools and protocols to assess the fulfilment of the standard requirements from the very beginning of the cab design (CAD stage).

IBV has focused in the three main areas related with ergonomics: reaches, posture and visibility (exterior and interior).

IBV set up STRMTG

The mannequin posture developed by IBV is fair more realistic than other approaches as it is based in previous scientific literature and also considers the adjustments available in the cabin. Of course, the boundary conditions established in STRMTG (articular angles) has been observed in the mannequin posture design.

A set of techniques for the virtual assessment of the visibility requirements has been designed and set up. Specifically, for the analysis of the close outside field of vision (cylinder), windscreen wipers surface calculation and the masking angle generated by the columns or pillars.
