Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) has developed the Test FRP Lumbar software application, which is specifically designed to customize and streamline the execution and the delivery of results in the lumbar flexion-relaxation protocol.

The application allows users to easily define, through a graphical and intuitive interface, their own protocol execution requirements, and to obtain the results automatically and immediately.

To record the variables that show the existence of the flexion-lumbar relaxation phenomenon, TestFRP/Lumbar uses a system to analyze the movements of the spine and lower limbs, and surface electromyography (SEMG) equipment to record muscle activity.

Cerebrovascular accidents are the most common cause of adult disability in Europe. Survival figures are 75%, although approximately half of the people affected lose the ability to live independently in their own home. Their rehabilitation and hospitalization mean a significant economic burden for the EU. In order to improve their rehabilitation and to increase the independence of the patients who experience these problems, the WalkX project developed a prototype that helps them to incorporate and rehabilitate gait by correcting their movement pattern. The prototype also helps to keep the trunk erect and to restore balance. It was designed to be used in rehabilitation centers, which will reduce the physical effort of physiotherapists and increase the duration and the intensity of therapy sessions.

The Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) has developed the NedRangos/IBV application to help experts assess the range of motion of the joints. This application allows the user to perform an assessment of the upper limb, lower limb and spine.

NedRangos/IBV records the ranges of both active mobility and passive mobility and can assess the ranges of one side versus the contralateral one, active ranges versus passive ranges, and active ranges versus normal ranges values.

The management of a biomechanical assessment service can be described as the process of integrating the elements of both the laboratory and its environment, with the main objective being to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its processes.

The support activities of the Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) intended for laboratories who use biomechanical assessment techniques, aim to maximize the use and consolidation of the health services they provide, with particular emphasis on nuclear procedures related to its organization, strategy and development of continuous improvement processes.
