The Final Review meeting of StimulAIS project arranged by TEQUIR (Project Coordinator), took place in Valencia, Spain, on Wednesday 11th March 2015.
In this meeting, REA (Research Executive Agency) Project Officer and a Reviewer assessed the overall project execution and outputs. All consortium partners were represented in the meeting, and shared the work carried out that led to the results of the StimulAIS system.

Relevant SME objectives were discussed, including expected project outputs, final status and future commercial plans. A general discussion on the project and its future was addressed to close the meeting.

The aim of the StimulAIS project has been the development of an alternative of treatment for the moment of detection of the Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). AIS is a progressive structural spinal deformity that affects around 2-3% of children aged between 10 and 16 in the world. This alternative of treatment is minimally invasive and physically imperceptible for the patient, so it avoids the psychological risks of the current treatment of bracing. With our system we intend to avoid the progression of the deformity and, even, its correction.

Apart from Tequir S.L. (Spain) that has led this project, this initiative has involved other two SMEs, Synergie Ingeniere Medicale SARL (SYNIMED, France) and Bentronic Gesellschaft Für Medizintechnik GMBH (BENTRONIC, Germany) and three RTDs, the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV, Spain) and the Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV, Spain) and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Angewandten Forschung E.V. – IPMS (IPMS, Germany).

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under Grant Agreement No 315327.
