What are the main elements of an Active Company? Which successful partnerships are needed? What role can a city play? How to engage into a certification process around physical activity? EMoCS welcomes you in Brussels!

On June 21, EMOC, European Meetings of Company Sport, celebrates the Workshop “Active Workplaces, Active Europe” which will take place in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss about the role of network in promoting active lifestyles and active cities throughout Europe.

In an effort to mutualize expertise, experiences and ideas, this workshop is co-hosted by the PACTE and EMoCS European projects and the IBV collaborates and participates in this workshop.

Workshop Objective

With over 200 million inactive citizens, physical inactivity has become one of the most pressing challenges in Europe. Despite growing scientific evidence and political attention on the benefits of promoting healthy lifestyles at national and European levels in recent years, the sedentary crisis is developing.

“We believe there is an opportunity to reverse this trend and that workplaces have a fundamental role to play”, says Mercedes Sanchís, Innovation Manager of IBV.

Active Workplaces have been overlooked as a setting of focus to promote healthy lifestyles. Yet this is the place where Europeans spend most of their time.

What are the main elements of an Active Company? Which successful partnerships are needed? What role can a city play? How to engage into a certification process around PA?

This workshop is open to anyone from city leaders, human resources managers and companies, local representatives, sport organisations, public authorities, health structures... It will explore, discuss and challenge the main elements of an Active Company.

Project

The objectives of the project are: collect and collate data from several EU member states (benchmark exercise) information; raise awareness of private/public decisions makers/executives about major benefits of company sports (management, social inclusion, performance, wellbeing, health); produce concrete evidences and solutions for employers to implement physical activities programs within the workplace and  create the tools and conditions for EU certification/label for companies regarding physical activity at work.

The project coordinator is Fédéreation Européenne du sport d’enterprise (European Federation of Company Sport) and the consortium includes 9 organizations from 6 European countries uniting local, national and international stakeholders, actors in the world of sport, industry and health, leaded by the European Federation for Company Sport:

Italian Association of Sporting Goods Manufacturers Assosport (Italy)
Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (Belgium)
Think Tank Sport and Citizenship (France)
The regional sports federation Liiku (Finland)
Sports federation FROS Multisport Vlaanderen (Belgium)
National Olympic Committee Slovenia
French Federation for Company Sport FFSE (France)
IBV (Spain)

Cofounded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and directly related to the European effort to raise awareness on the importance of physical activity within the European citizens, EMoCS aims to promote voluntary activities in sport to tackle today’s diagnosis of an “unacceptably high” level of inactivity among European citizens.
