Body2Garment (B2G) hosted an InKreate consortium meeting last 10th of January in Den Haag, Nederland. B2G offers research-based consulting services to designers, apparel brands and manufacturers looking to optimize technical aspects of garment development and to improve the overall garment fit.

The project, led by Coordinator IBV, aims to improve the apparel design process using low cost 3D scanners and 3D sketching tools.

Project Director Juan V. Durá presented in Den Haag the IBV’s library of avatars that will be available for future InKreate users that include three different body shapes for each gender, in different heights and sizes.

Mr.Giuseppe Caprara, IBV Project Manager Assistant, affirms that “InKreate open the road to a fully customized design-on-avatar sketch-tool, that would be available in the future”.

Whereas the manufacturing and distribution of apparel has advanced in past years with the application of new CAM and ITC technologies, the design process is still very traditional.

Currently, the multidisciplinary team of creative personnel has to discuss about the new designs with traditional tools. There are currently no 3D tools adapted to the needs of creative designing of clothes.

The main objective of InKreate is to improve the process of designing clothes collections with tools that eliminate manual tasks and leverage the use of recent ICT technologies.

InKreate will now starting demonstration in operational environments in different pilot cases with the cooperation of the creative SMEs from the apparel market participating in the project.

On February, InKreate consortium will present also their first year of activities in Brussels, where a meeting with European Commission reviewers will take place.

The partners of this innovation action, besides IBV as coordinator and BODY2GARMENT (Nederland), are ATP (Portugal), BROWZWEAR (Israel), DDUE (Spain),  FIT (Rumania), KATTY FASHION (Rumania),  P&R TEXTEIS (Portugal) and TITERA (Slovenia).

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 731885.
